As luck would have it, I just found an old CD-ROM I made that includes the single versions of Try This Shoot and Tonikaku Mushou ni! Plus Still Growin' Up. Still Growin' Up is one of the few early Globe songs I've heard. Now I can play them on my new digital jukebox. Try This Shoot is one of my top favorite Globe songs.
Andrew, you said you really like 'Hitori goto,' right? Those Lights 2 songs are really good, but they blend into each other so much I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between Starting from Here and Hitori goto.

Yeah, Hitorigoto's my favorite... well, at the moment at least . (I really, really, really like the lyrics of the bridge, especially.) Anyway, I can definately understand what you mean with the way Starting From Here and Hitorigoto sound so much alike. Usually, that sort of thing really bothers me (part of the reason I can't listen to Incubus albums, IMHO), but for some reason I think I like the songs enough to make up for it on Lights2. I've noticed that lately I've been listening to Outernet A LOT too. That and Love Again (but Love Again's mostly for Wanderin' Destiny which seems to have a hold on me lately.) But yeah, that's what i got to say for now. Gonna go sleep after my 10 hour drive back up to Atlanta. Oh- and yeah, Still Growin' Up is a good "early" song (it's one of the songs exclusive to the Cruise Record albums- besides singles, of course), but you should REALLY try hard to get more early Globe.

I'm not a very big fan of Hitorigoto. However, I was playing Lights 2 once and my dad was listening to it, and said he liked it, right when it was playing Hitorigoto, in fact.
On L2 I like Knockin' on the Door of My Heart and Inspired from R&B because those have such catchy vocal tunes and instruments. Knockin' on the Door used to be my favourite Globe song for a while.

Similar story from me: When I got my car back from the body shop the second time after this past accident, my dad picked up the car. When I had dropped it off, I was listening to Outernet. So, when my dad picked up my car, he listened to the second half of Outernet. When he brought it to me later that afternoon, he said, "Wow, that Japanese stuff really grows on you." Since then, I've been threatening to buy him some CDs for a holiday. But yeah... Knocking's another really good one, although, I have to say that my 2nd favorite on that album is either Over The Rainbow or Edge of Darkness. (I know, I couldn't have picked two more different songs, right?) But I like OTR for its lyrics and the whole concept behind, "I was the rain... then something changed... you became the rainbow... and I'm not alone anymore." As for EOD, I like it for the "sound" of it. I think it's just a really unique song.

What do you think of the French lyrics in Globe? Do you think you've learned any French by listening to these songs?

It took me some time to get used to it, but I like it a lot now. I can't say that I've learned any French from it all though. The funny thing is that I used to not be able to tell when Marc was rap/whisper-ing in French versus Japanese cuz it's always so low no matter what. But now I know the difference, so I guess I did learn something from it.

I'm actually very attracted to the sound of French. I really like the French accent. It's probably because I grew up in Canada having to learn French. Some words in French are so similar to English. For example, in Get It On Now:
Magique=magic. l'Afrique=Africa. l'Amerique=America.
However, my French is rusty nowadays due to my intense study of Japanese. Sometimes I hear a French word I like so much I have to look it up. For example, in Edge of darkness where he says "l'aube" ever so dauntingly, I just had to look the word up. Apparently, it means paddle. I'm not positive this is right.
Lately a lot of the cartoons I've been watching relate to France too in some way, plus I took one year of French in high school, so it's just an overall experience for me.

Wow. You definately like stuying languages, that's for sure. Is that what you're going to school for, is it just an interest you have?

Yeah, I'm rigorously interested in language. Japanese has overshadowed my other language studies for the past five years, but I don't want to completely forget all I've learned about French. I would like to learn a little bit of Chinese, in time. I like learning new languages and alphabets.
Actually, my alma mater didn't offer Japanese as a major, but they did offer it as a minor. I didn't get a minor in Japanese however, because I would have had take lots of other classes that would have made my schedule too intense for 4 years. I would love to take more advanced Japanese classes in the future if the opportunity presents itself.
BTW, definitely is spelled with an "I".
How about you? How did your finals at Georgia Tech go?

Haha. I rarely check for errors when I post here. Maybe I should start doing that...
Anyway, my finals went pretty well. 6 A's and a B, so I can't really complain, even though I REALLY wanted to make a 4.0 at least one semester at Tech. (I don't count next year because I'm only gonna be part-time since there's just not enough classes left for me to take for a full year, but I can't take them all together.) Did your finals go fine, too? I take it you're graduating since you said "alma mater". Congratulations =).
Oh yeah... on the topic of the French in Globe songs... What do you think of Keiko's French "debut" on Level 4 (I think it's in either The Box or Weather Report- can't remember which one exactly right now)? You think she pulled it off well? To my (obviously untrained) ear, it sounds good, but I was wondering if your experience leads you to think differently.

I see that I didn't answer your question from before. No, I didn't go to school for language, I studied business administration with an major in computer information systems. I graduated last week. I adore Keiko's French parts of Out of © Control! She has the absolute best voicing in those parts. I love how she sounds a little distorted in those cool parts. But I had no idea that this was the first time she spoke in French in a song. Are you sure this is her debut using French? What do you think of her French? You know the line in Get it on now where Marc says, "Jaguar, cigares, caviars, dollars," etc? I drew a picture of my comic character in response to the self-indulgent feeling expressed by this line. Lol. Here it is: www.cet.nau.edu/~jsw26/art/decadent4.jpg

Yep, I'm absolutely sure that's the first time she's ever had any lyrics in French. I liked it too. I think her accent on it is a good contrast to Marc's whisperiness when he does French lyrics. Cool picture, by the way.

You know- I'm starting to get worried about Globe. It's been over a year since their last original album release, and almost 8 months since Global Trance Best came out. I hope they haven't stopped making music .

Marc actually said on his site that globe is taking a break this year. Instead they are working with their own projects. Keiko and Tetsuya released "KCO" (and hopefully more CDs), Marc makes music with "245" and Yoshiki continues with Violet UK. My guess is that globe will will release a new album in 2005, with bigger participation from Yoshiki By the way, my favorite song on Lights2 is Over the rainbow. I love the melody and Keiko's singing! Edge of darkness is really good too.

Have you heard the full versions of the songs from 245? Are they any good/ worth buying the CD for?
