Give me a day to come up with a press release.

This thread actually has a "topic"? What's wrong with the computer? Oh, and Joe, when are we gonna announce Project AA? The computer keeps overheating. They had to send it back to HP to have it go through a freaking assembly line, instead of just replacing the fan like I asked them to.

If your computer is still under warranty, it's a good thing that they're checking everything. The fan in my mom's computer now only works if you manually turn the fan on. But, before we figured out that was the problem, it messed up the computer's RAM and we had to replace it.

I just got my first Kate Ryan CD "Stronger." It is just incredible. I knew I should have bought it before. Her songs are some of the best European trance/dance songs I've heard. Her lyrics are very thoughtful-- no complaints there. Nowadays I love Kate Ryan just as much as Sylver. Overall, I was a little disappointed with Sylver's latest album Cross Roads because they've gotten into too much plain drum-n-bass and funk instead of sticking with their dance roots, but there are a couple standout songs.
Brad and Molotov, I hope you guys aren't too mad at me for making you do those music reviews for AudioAsia. It doesn't have to be a vigorous project. We can update it when we choose.
When I look through this thread, I recall how much I loved creating songs in the Make Music programs. But now... well, now I've come to realize that the instrument selection in the program stinks. I mean, it's great if you have a piano song, but the sound quality (and variety) for other instruments, like synth, guitar and strings, flat out stink. Plus, the drum set selection is very poor and I've always had volume setting troubles. And I don't have the system requirements to use their fancier composing applications, even though I now own them (uselessly).
One day, I'm going to get a real synthesizer with hundreds of voices to select from instead of just tolerating general MIDI. I have no idea how to record with one, but I'm sure I can learn, especially with the Yamaha series. The next time I make a song, I'm sure that I'd want somebody else to write the lyrics-- I'm only interested in composing, not songwriting. Until then, it's just a dream.

I'm not mad, I mean, we knew going into this thing that we'd have to write and stuff.
And what Kate Ryan and Sylver songs do you like the most? I'll obtain them from Ruckus or iTunes.
I too haven't made any music with my music making stuff lately. I removed all my stuff to Altaire so that I could have more space for other things. Right now I have one gig free on a 60 gig HD. I want to free up at least 15 gigs (or more) so that I can install Final Fantasy XI on here eventually.
And dude, I'd totally collab on some lyric writing, I just don't know about singing. Hey Liz, can you sing?

We can start our own World of Move band! LOL. I love the idea, Brad. We might discuss that later.
"Wild Horses" is definitely my favorite Sylver song. I just can't listen to it enough. As for Kate Ryan, I'd recommend "Another Day." "I Like the Way" is my personal favorite. With Kate Ryan, you don't get bad songs.
You got any song recommendations for me? I got, like, 50 credits for songs on Napster. No, I don't want Weird Al or other random stuff; something original that takes itself seriously.
I think it's time society looked at media differently than before. Media over the past few decades has gotten more and more decentralized. These days, anybody could become a movie director, musician, actor, singer, artist, photographer, reporter, etc, and then publish and market their own work on the Internet or elsewhere. Now it's like every household is its own studio. Of course, that means there's a lot more junk out there, but that's why I say we need to look at media differently than before. Notwithstanding mass media can lose some of its fervor, just because someone isn't a 'professional' doesn't mean we should look down on them. And it's okay to create media that only appeals to small group-- one's material, blogs for example, might not appeal to everybody or end up being world-famous one day and that's okay. Sifting through and sorting all our media should be considered a talent in itself. We all know a director, musician, writer or artist right among our own family or friends. Therefore, every town could have its own Hollywood. Although we have a magnitude of information today, the attention with which to ingest it is sparse.

Joseph, isn't Kate Ryan a Belgian singer? I heard a song by a Kate Ryan once called "Libertine" and it was in French... not sure if it's the same person.
And no, Brad, I'm a terrible singer.

Joe, isn't Stronger a Kate Ryan song? I think that's the name of the one I've heard and liked.

I'm downloading a few songs by Sylver and Kate Ryan right now.
As for things you might want to check out on Napster, I recently got these songs and love them:
Winter by Joshua Radin (this song was featured in an episode of Scrubs a while back) Mister Sister by The Tender Box Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol Poison (Friday Night Posse Mix) by Groove Coverage Hate Me by Blue October (I don't even know how or why I got this song, but while I didn't like it at first, it's really grown on me) You Know My Name by Chris Cornell (this was the theme to the newest Bond movie, Casino Royale) SexyBack by Justin Timberlake (by all accounts, I should hate this song but I don't)
And yes Joe, I agree with you about the decentralization of the media industry. Today, anyone can be a newscaster. Some of the most recent Technology news bits of the past year were first posted by bloggers (like Sony's rootkit mess). I get adverts from a place that specializes in pressing CDs and DVDs for the independent artist all the time.

Kate Ryan is Belgian. Sylver is too. There are four other Belgian trance groups that belong in the same category-- Ian Van Dahl, Lasgo, DHT, and Milk Inc. Belgian trance is the best and my most favorite! Of course, they don't always stick with trance, but that's their motif.
"Stronger" is the name of album I bought, but there is no song on it called "Stronger." If you get "Stronger" (and I highly recommend it), get the American version. The import version doesn't have "So in Love" and "Libertine" on it. The American version does. "Libertine" is one of the two French songs on the album -- the other is "Je Lance Un Appel." When I first got Napster, one of the first songs I downloaded was Kate Ryan's "Désenchantée," which is from her first album Different. Kate Ryan is one of the greatest trance artists.
I don't blame you for liking Justin Timberlake. Poison is an awesome song too. I used to listen to it on the radio.
Oh yes, I remember You Know My Name from when I watched Casino Royale. It has a kind of classic flavour to it, doesn't it? I also bought the song from Snow Patrol because that was my other favourite.
To be honest, I'm a big Rihanna fan. I had to get "SOS," which is the song borrows the instruments from the 80s song "Tainted Love."

Isn't Tainted Love that song that mentions something like "I wanna ah ah get away" or something. If you've seen it, they played the song I'm talking about on Coneheads, Beldar sings it while he narfles the Garfunk.

OMG! I didn't read that part about SOS. That song is awesome! It was my jam all summer, especially when I'd go clubbing :-p. I don't think you need to be embarassed saying you like the song, Joe . And Brad, yeah, that's the song. At a lot of clubs, they'd actually do a mash-up of the two, or have one of them lead into the other. It was great!
