I return! And with me, I bring review attempt number the third! Rather late this time; I apologize. Thanksgiving made arranging for the single's shipment rather more complicated than it needed to be; I ended up ordering it last Sunday, they shipped it Wednesday, and I just got it today. x . x; (I just got back from the post office, hehe).
So here's my (belated) review!
CD
Raimei ~out of kontrol~: When the link to the PV was posted before, I refused to look at it/listen to it more than once, so that it'd be somewhat new to me when I got the CD. This is the first I've heard of it without car noises in the background, so yay!
It's a lot faster paced than I originally thought it was, which is cool. But what I found really amusing - and I'm not sure if they did it on purpose or not - except for the first verse, all of Yuri's lyrics (in the lyric book) are in blue, and Motsu's are in pink, which is exactly the opposite of what they usually do. I'm assuming it was accidental, cuz the key still has Yuri's name in pink and Motsu's in blue... odd.
Unlike with Disco Time, I didn't hear similarities to Freaky Planet the second I heard the intro, which is good... I'm not sure I'd want all four singles to sound so similar. I mean, it still has the guitar + electronic sound thing going, music wise, but it's got it's own flavor, which is - to me at least - the essence of what m.o.v.e. is all about. ^_^ Also, there are no robot voices this time around, which takes it further away from Freaky Planet and Disco Time.
I LOVE the meshing of Yuri's and Motsu's voices in this song... they pretty much alternate singing lines -- they even sing a few lines at the same time, and they harmonize really well! Not a lot of rapping in this one; Motsu sings. I'm so glad he sings now. * . *; I love rappers who can also sing... [/fangirling]
*ahem*
So yes, this song, overall, is pretty awesome. More of m.o.v.e.'s 'get up and dance around like a lunatic' type stuff, which IMO never gets old. Raimei's my idea of a good driving song, which is amusing, since that's basically what the whole video is (although I've never driven quite that fast before ).
GIRL (you wanna move): Pardon my borrowing of the song's own lyrics, but this song is sexy. That's the first word that jumps to mind when I hear this song. I have no idea if this is the mental image I'm supposed to get from it, but in my head, I picture a smoke-hazy dance club. o.o; Kind of funny, considering I've never been in a smoke-hazy dance club (or any dance club, for that matter)...
The background music is... funky. It's got a sort of dark-ish quality to it, but not to the point of being depressing; far from it. Maybe 'dark' isn't the word... mysterious? I don't know. It's one of those songs that gives you a sort of undefinable feeling. Or at least, that's what it's currently doing to me. *mind is boggled*
I really like Move's B-sides lately...
DVD
Raimei ~out of kontrol~ PV: This video amused the heck out of me. ^^;;;
Again, continuing (sort of) where they left off in Disco Time, it still appears to be night time. They've arrived at what looks like a log cabin, and Motsu's passed out in an armchair. He sits up after a second and stretches, then gets up, smacks the TV on, and sits back down. He lights up a cigarrete, then starts actually paying attention to what's on TV, and the song begins.
It flips over to the TV, and you see that Initial D's on. The main character (forgive me; it's been a while since I read the manga x . x;) is racing against an unknown red car, and the red car's in the lead. Motsu starts having momentary flashbacks of the crazy drive he just took, and then quite suddenly disappears from his chair, rematerializing behind the wheel of said red car... in anime!form! He's startled for a moment, but soon enough seems rather amused to be in a race car ("Yoshi!").
Meanwhile, back at the cabin, T-Kimura comes into the room with a paper bag in his hand and looks around (presumably for Motsu and Yuri).
Back to the TV for a second, then back to the cabin again; T-Kimura sits in another armchair and goes after what's in the bag (some kind of canned beverage, but I can't see the label on it). He then notices Motsu's (anime-i-fied) face on the TV and soon after is planted in the passenger seat (pun again!) of the red car. After a few more moments of racing, you can tell T-Kimura's none-too-thrilled with Motsu's driving ability. XD
Back to the cabin once again, Yuri (in a white bathrobe and slippers) comes into the room (presumably having just taken a shower, as she's toweling her hair dry). Flicks to the race for a second, then back to Yuri, who's brushing her hair while she watches TV. She, too, is transported into the TV, but she gets to ride along with... I think his name is Takumi. That sounds right...
He's rather startled to see a half-dressed singer in his car (I would be, too), and loses control of the vehicle for a moment; Yuri drops her hairbrush on the floor and pulls her bathrobe more tightly closed.
They kick the race up another notch, and T-Kimura continues to scream bloody murder at Motsu's crazy driving, while Motsu just grins like a maniac as the car shoots down the road sideways. (I'm sorry, I don't know the technical term...) In the white car, Yuri seems totally unconcerned by the speed and is all shiny-eyed with amazment. They keep showing the car's RPM gauge, which means nothing to me aside from that they're driving really fast. XD
Something happens to Motsu's car, and he loses control and spins out as Takumi's car passes him; Motsu and T-Kimura head right for the guard rail... and all three are spit back out of the TV (Yuri lands on top of Motsu... hahaha). Yuri looks at her hands in confusion, and then it shows the TV screen once again, and Yuri's hairbrush is on the floor of Takumi's car.
To be continued...
ANGEL EYES Preview:
Announcer: m.o.v.e. presents... Final Stage - ANGEL EYES. In the realm of dreams... on the wings of fantasy... an idilic* journey into the soul... as seen through the eyes of love... through... ANGEL EYES... (2005.12.14) Coming soon.
*I have no idea how to spell what they said here; I think they were going for "ideal-ic" but that's not a word so far as I know. o.o; (For the record, neither is 'idilic'.)
The video seems to have two main parts that they show - one where the band (dressed basically as they were in the car previously) is coming toward the camera in a hallway (similar to all the hall-shots on the backstage footage of the Deep Calm DVD, if you've seen that), and the other part is of them all dressed in white (somewhat a la How to See You Again), set up with microphones and T-Kimura's keyboard on a black and white tiled floor in the middle of a group of people who are sitting at round tables and smoking and drinking wine. T-Kimura's keyboard is surrounded by little flat screens showing images of eyes and the car they were previously driving.
The song sounds really pretty to me. The preview only gives you Yuri's singing, so I don't know how Motsu sounds yet, but the chorus sounds nice and mellow. It sounds like it'll be slower than the other three singles, but considering the name of the song, I'm not too surprised. ^^;
Yet again (and it may very well be because I'm biased), I really liked this one. ^_^ Can't wait until ANGEL EYES, never mind the whole album coming out in January... *glee*
