Ahh... after promising that I would review Deep Calm about 2 weeks ago, i finally got the time to do so *damn you homework!!!*
Package Content: The Japan version of the Cd contains a Cd with 14 songs and a DVD with the Live Tour of Decadance. The cds looks plain but the booklet look good.
Songs
Reality- this songs start with a weird guitar sound thing, and then mostu comes in while another variation of the guitar plays like little solo. Then Mostu start rapping, while hearing the drum and guitar. After a while Yuri comes in and start signing while Mostu acts as back up singer. Then a weird flute insturment comes inf ro a while and it sounded really good. The song as a whole is really good (unlike the remix)- 4/5
Deep Calm-It start with the er.. requiem thingy mabob and you hear this freakly chant/moaning of a dood. Then Yuri comes in with the piano and it is slow for a while, then Mostu and guitar and the drums come in. Like around the middle of the songs, the requiem insturment thingy have a second solo (sounds like something from a final fantasy battle song.) Yuri and the piano gets a solo after Mostu stop rapping and such. - 4/5
Spritual Tattoist-o0o0o0o. The skyboard and the violin are present at this song (like you can really hear it) Yuri's part is really catchy in this song, and i like the idea of having violin in this song, and we cant forget about the guitars. The guitar!!! - 5/5
Riot Generator- The remix of this in the mini album Fastfoward was good, but the orginal is alot better. Mostu gets alot of part in this song. Insturment wise, i can only find the guitar and drums. There also choir people singing as the background, and such. This song is a really heavy guitar song, but i was alittle dissapointed that the apperance of keyboard was soo minimal. - 3/5
My Sweet Nightmare- It starts with a weird guitar solo, and then Mostu starts "Warming up" to sing, and a few seconds later, he start rapping. I like how the lyric are done althouyght it is also another heavy guitar song. Once again, Yuri didnt get as big of a part like Reality or Deep Calm, but then again, when Mostu yells out the lyric from time to time, it is very enjoyable. - 4/5
Monster Amplifier- Starts with some weird songs, and later joined by the guitar. But not as heavy so that it drowns the keyboard. Yuri and Mostu have equal amount of sining time. And i like how they stop the guitar fgrom playing so you can hear Yuri singing the drum, and small amount of keyboard. To me, it feels like the song have different section and i like how they did that. - 4/5
The massive Quest-This song is slower tha the other, and mostu sings very soft in the beginning. Sometime, when Yuri is sinning, her voice gets edited it and that sounded really good. But then again, from what i can tell, more pounding on the guitar and drum. I didn't enjoy this song as much at the others tho.... - 3/5
Disabuse(insturmental)- Prop for doing an insturmental, and using this weird insturment sounded like from the India, but no props for making it sound bad. I just didn't like the insturmental. No heavy guitar this time, and it uses more keyboard, but it just wasnt that good.
2/5
Freezing Rain- Starts with soothing sound, but it turns into a violin solo(sounds really cool) then the violin stops and keyboard gets asolo, the the violin comes back. Yuri starts sining and the guitar comes in, but you can hear what seems to be another variation of a guitar while the heavy guitar was kept to a minimal(plays cords). Yuri starts sining again and one in a while, Mostu comes in, and adds to Yuri's part. Then Motsu gets his part and sings. It is a really good songs as they have good lyric, good variation of insturments that are done correctly, and timing. 5/5
Blast My Desire- I loved this song. Mostu and Yuri gets equal part and the violin just sounded awsome here. The guitar gets a small solo in the starts, then the violin joins. Then mostu starts sinign then Yuri starts. Mostu adds to Yuri's part, and the lyric just sound good. Then in the middle of the song... THEY HAVE AN AWSOME VIOLIN SOLO!!!! Ne ways, i loved the solo, and how mostu and yuri colaborated together. 5/5
TWIST~Alice In Wonderland- Starts with a electrical sound,a dn 2 variation of the guitar takes over, and Mostu comes in. The mostu scream something else, which is preety good, and Yuri comes in. Again, a Heavy guitar kind of song. But it is a good song, and colaboration of the 2 singer is good here too. 4/5
PURE MINDS-Another pounding the the guitar kind of song. Doesn't intress me too much. However, the timing makes it godd and how they made some Yuri vocal part sound weird is...cool. 3/5
Runaway- This is a good song. They use another variation of the guitar, and i like how mostu adds to yuri's vocal part while she is singing "Runawayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" Woulda been boring if mostu didnt join in when she sang that part. The insturment here are good(sounds like something u would hear in those surfing place, i like how they colaborate, and i like how they have a small violin solo at the near end. 4/5
Personal Letter-Slow, and somwhat boring song to me. But it does have a piano part, and mostu didnt went kerserk in this song. Yuri's voice went very well with the paino and such. IT gets heavier later with more violin part, but Yuri's voice makes it seem... blahish
3/5
DvD, Unfortunally, I could not rate the DVD, because i dont have a way to read Region 2/3 DVDs.....Blah
Overall, I give the album a 89/100 A very good album to get if you have the extra greens(not pot!!!)
