I like KOF series but sometimes the controls bother me a lot.
Street Fighter series is also fun.

Does anyone play fighting games using the Kawaks emulator? kawaks.retrogames.com/I've mastered most of the directional commands in fighting games USING THE KEYBOARD like QCF, HCB, HCF, etc. ... except pulling off 360 and 720 degree rotations. It's nearly impossible to do those using the arrow keys! I still need practice doing air combo moves on the keyboard. My favourite characters in KOF are Clark Steel, Kim Kaphwan, and Kyo Kusanagi (not to mention the lovely Athena Asamiya on my current avatar, who undergoes a makeover every new KOF release ... that one being 2003). Kim's Rising Phoenix Kick DM is a blast to pull off (while in air: QCF, HCB + K). The coolest thing about the KOF series is their arranged soundtracks. I'm not talking about the KOF Dance Trax, but arrangements of the battle themes in the game. I got to implement them in M.U.G.E.N., which was incredible to say the least. I feel like I'm the only one who has the arranged soundtracks for the SNES/SFC DragonBall Z: Super Butoden series...

Anyone here ever play Guilty Gear XX? It's an excellent, very well-made fighting game. Its easy and fun to get into, yet it is a very deep fighter. You dont have to be a pro to have a good time with this one (a la Capcom Vs SNK).

I like quite a few fighters, but my favourites are still Soul Calibur II (I put the phear of Hepheastus into my bro with Sophie. XD) and the Dynasty Warriors series. (DW2 had Knock 'em Out!!! as the ending theme, which got me interested in move in the first place. Ah, good memories...)

Mortal Kombat Trilogy rules all of those... 2D fighters are the way to go!!! I hate how there's that "extra dimension" to it .. and you can dodge to the side now.
