I wasn't told anything about FP. In fact, all I know about is what's been posted here- that it comes out late September. That's the extent of my knowledge prior to this convo. Maybe your comment was directed more towards Jospeph, then?

I don't remember ever being told that I had to keep this new release a secret. Why shouldn't people know about it? Sorry if I did something wrong.

Seems to me that discussing Freaky Planet would be a good thing. Increase interest, and whatnot. P.S.: Hey Richard, anymore news on the Orbitribe release?

I don't use CDJapan, but my guess is just that they haven't updated the site. You can send them an email to make sure they have it. My guess, though, is that they probably don't have any limited edition versions left.

Phew, I was getting worried I was going to be banished from this forum for leaking international secrets, lol. It's only a month or so until it's released anyway.
For CDJapan, I have the same recommendation Molotov has... email them to make sure they still have the limited edition in stock. The site seems to imply that Deep Calm limited edition is available, so I'd assume they would have it in stock unless they say otherwise.
Thanks so much for letting me know about Novaspace; I just found a sample of theirs to hear. German groups have some of the best techno. Novaspace seems similar to my favorite groups.
I listened to Milk Inc - "Walk on Water" on the radio earlier tonight. They have boldly spiritual lyrics. My complaint about the lyrics is complex, but how can the lyricist think they are so perfect that they can "walk on water"? With Ian Van Dahl on the other hand, I basically agree with every word Annemie says (Annemie partially contributes to the lyrics for both Ian Van Dahl and Lasgo). And what I like about Sylver's lyrics so much is they can be soft and gentle one minute, then wild and bold, or deeply moody the next minute, all while sounding very mature.

Cool. Glad I was able to help you find a band you'll like. ;D BTW, do you know what song it was you heard? I think I have the original and remix versions of Walk on Water. I never really thought too much about the lyrics, though. I tend to do that with techno artists. I really just get into the beat and the melody. P.S. Globe 2 Overseas Version is now up at Yesasia. It may be a better deal for you now.

I think lyrics and tone are pretty important. Especially with dance where the quality is so inconsistent. Groups sometimes only come out with one single, so it's a matter of picking and choosing. You could get the collection of lots of different artists, but I don't like to do that too much-- I like to purchase by artist because you know what you are getting.
A few months ago, I've actually read all the lyrics to Milk Inc's songs. Even the singer has admitted that many of the songs are depressing because they're mostly about breakups. I don't think that will do for me right now. I heard their song "Blind," and it's about saying what a completely bad person the other person is, so that turns me off. The instruments are very beautiful though, I'm sure. I don't know what version of "Walk on Water" I listened to, but it sure sounded like an original mix by them.
I just got an email from CDUniverse saying that the Sylver album "Nighttime Calls" that I bought will now be offered by an American record company (Toucan Cove), so people won't have to import it. I'm glad to see that Sylver will have an American market.
After listening to a couple of Novaspace's songs, I think they sound incredible. So far I've listened to Paradise, Guardian Angel, and To France, and I am very impressed. They seem like a combination of Ian Van Dahl, Smile.dk, and Sylver, and those are my three favorite groups! I'm going to add their CD to my wishlist, although their first album is pretty hard to find. I didn't know I was missing such a cool group!
What about you yourself? Are you a fan of Novaspace or Lasgo?
I see that Globe 2 Pop/Rock has a discounted Overseas rate now. I also looked at reviews of Megumi's single (which is 2 years old now), and every review I've read gave it five stars, so I'm sure I'll love it. To be honest though, I'm probably going to buy the European CDs first because they look so exciting. You know it's time to by the CD when you sing "Get Up Stand Up" by Stellar Project to yourself everyday because you wished they played it on the radio again.

Yeah, I'm a fan of Novaspace. I have their Cubes album (is that the one you're calling their first album? 'Cuz as far as I could tell, they just released singles prior to this album). I would love to get more, like their song Get To France, which is one of my favorites by them, but their stuff tends to be expensive. I'm not so much of a Lasgo fan, though; they just don't seem to have as much excitement as Noovaspace in their music. As for the lyrics, it jsut seems to me that 9 out of 10 electronica songs will be about a love unrequited, or lost, or that the singer only hopes for. So half the time, I just get into the rhythm and melody as it differentiates the songs more. And yeah, I would definately say it's time for you to buy that CD, then. Haha. EDIT: I just checked, and I don't have Milk, Inc.'s Walk On Water. I have a song of the same name by Tenth Planet. Maybe it's better.

Ian Van Dahl and Lasgo are good if you like straight trance (house?). They both have the same producers Peter Luts and David Vervoot, who also write the lyrics for both groups along with Annemie Coenen (the singer of IVD). Dee Dee is another great artist-- I just looked them up, and I didn't know this, but they had some of the same producers as Ian Van Dahl. Regi Penxten is the Milk Inc producer who also contributes to Sylver. Peter Luts has done a great number of remixes for Milk Inc, and the singer of Sylver has done collaborations with Milk Inc. Milk Inc has a cool cover image for Walk on Water which you can check out here. Honestly, those Belgian trance groups are basically more or less the same if you don't catch subtleties, lol. Have you ever heard Enigma from Spain? I don't know why, but I think you might like them. They're kind of like new age ambient dance. I finally made the purchase wanted today. I got Smile.dk's first album Smile (which is the one that has "Butterfly" on it), plus Stellar Project's. I also bought the latest album by Me & My called Fly High. Me & My is a group that's very similar to Smile.dk in that they are a Danish dance pop group which are released in Japan. In fact, I would have never found them if I hadn't looked on a Japanese online store. I heard a sample on their official website, and it was amazing! So I had to get it. I was lucky enough to find a supplier who had all three CDs I wanted at a good price, so I'm thankful for that. Truly, I didn't know that most music lyrics were about romance until recently. When I used to listen to Two-Mix exclusively, they sang about positive attitude, decision-making, and encouragement, so I didn't know that other groups focused on romance quite so much. I like some love songs, but at the same time I don't want to be overstimulated-- after all, you can sing about practically anything, even gibberish. Actually, Novaspace released an album before Cubes called Supernova, which contains "To France," and it's a little hard-to-find, but from the samples I heard, it's exciting. I learned this at Novaspacefan.de. How did you first find out about Novaspace? By the way, have you heard Fragma? They are also a German dance group. My tastes are pretty predictable. If it belongs in the Eurodance category, I'm into it.

Didn't Me & My sing Dub-I-Dub (or whatever it's called) for DDR?
I had heard of Novaspace I think from the site Euroadrenaline.com. I got Get To France from there a long time ago, and have jsut kept up with their stuff as much as I could. I've been to that Euromusic world site, too, but didn't finf Supernova. Thanks for the link, I need to consider buying this. I have listened to some of Fragma's work (after all, they remixed some of Move's songs), but mostly in remixes. I do have a couple of their originals, though. I remember them being pretty trancey. Enigma, though, is a group I've not heard of. Maybe I'll look into them as well.

Yes, that's right. Me & My did do the song "Dub-I-Dub," but until you said that, I didn't know it was a DDR song (I looked it up to confirm it). The song is available on their first (self-titled) album. The group stars two sisters, and from what I know, they have a pretty big hand in the production of their albums. meandmy.dkEnigma is the same type of idea as Enya. They're used for background music for TV and movies a lot. You may have heard the Enigma songs Sadeness or Return to Innocence before. When I was in high school, every teacher always liked to play Enya in the background. Enya has won Grammys for best New Age album (even though she doesn't prefer to call it that genre) for three of her albums. I was at Wherehouse Music a few weeks ago looking at Fragma's album Embrace, and it said it came with two "sensual music videos," lol! They sure don't mess around. Is it true you're in Irvine? I thought you were going to Georgia Institute of Technology.

Yeah, my AP Bio teacher used to play Enya during our quizzes and tests, especially during our practice AP tests. I think the album was called Memory of Trees or something like that. I liked it back then, but I've tried to listen to some Enya recently, and I can't seem to enjoy it as much. It's interesting how a lot of the artists you like were featured on DDR. I used to play DDR A LOT, so I have a pretty good knowledge base of the songs. I even made my own set of CDs to listen to the music back in freshman year of college . Anyway, yeah, I was at Georgia Tech. I actually just graduated in May with my BSME. Now, I'm at UCI, working at the National Fuel Cell Research Center for my MS/PhD. According to the profs here, it should only take 4 years. At Tech, 5 years woulda been expected if I kept up a good pace. My decision in the end was between Tech and UCI, but UCI just seemed to offer more opportunity, since they work more through business connections, etc. They also have A LOT of international/governmental programs that go on. Just this past week, I got to participate in the event where the city of Irvine became the first government body in the world to lease a Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicle. It was pretty cool. Tech's program is built more around Department of Defense programs and whatnot, and they don't seem to be as involved in the social/interactive programs.

I never knew that you were into DDR so much. Now that you mention it, the DDR song database is a good list to have. The game is like a jukebox for Japanese and European dance music for which you get to hear samples over and over. Besides Butterfly, my second favorite song to dance on DDR Extreme is Pink Rose by Kiyommy + Seiya. Americanized DDR has such a worse songlist than the original Japanese version. What's your favorite DDR song?
I haven't really gotten into many groups through DDR other than Smile.dk and maybe Captain Jack. I find out about most of my groups online at either Amazon.com or Amazon.co.jp, where as you know, they give recommendations based on preferences. I first found out about Sylver on Amazon.com when it showed up in my recommendation list one day. And occasionally I hear something on the radio I like. I recently discovered I'm getting more into European music than Japanese music other than a small number of Japanese groups. However, I really like how Japanese lyrics often seem to have such intelligent lyrics.
Congratulations on your graduation! I have a friend in Vancouver who said that he is working on some type of alternate fuel transportation himself, but he seems to say that he's too lazy to make great progress. I graduated with my bachelor's in business last year. I decided that graduate school isn't right for me right now. To be honest, I'm tired of school, heh.
The fact that the older generation likes a certain kind of music like Enya seems to take away the allure of the music. The Memory of Trees album came out in 1995.
