I was afraid the TRICKED OUT version of the Tokyopop DVDs influenced this series.

Yeah I heard the song too, it sounds really cool ;D It's called "Manuel - Let's go come on!" I haven't been able to find it anywhere. I guess it will come out with the ID:4S soundtrack.

Kenji-kun, where did u get the info that in 1 year from now the ID anime will be finished? Do you mean that only for the 4th stage, or the whole series production? BTW I'm not surprised the totally messed up americanisation of ID DVDs by tokyopop didn't have any effect on the 4th stage of Initial D. Because despite its "tokyopop" name, this firm is still just an american one buying rights from authors to translate and sell their mangas and animes, thus it can't have any influence in the process of anime production from avex in Japan. There are so many angles of points of view on why Tokyopop changed ID DVDs the way they have, like fear of poor sells if the american anime customers didn't like the eurobeat music, and the characters if they kept their japanese names... ID Fans may tell it's to misdjudge their ability to open their mind, while they have loved ID fansubs especially for the eurobeat musics, and they are used to japanese names... However if we put them apart for a moment, who knows how many narrow minded people there could be to discover ID with sole ethnocentrism, and to say "How funny names they have! And what crappy music this is, gimme my us rock!!"... Or maybe after all it was just the Tokyopop staff's lack of culture who changed ID anime the way they liked it.. BTW www.animesuki.com is the most up to date and complete list of torrents for only fansubbed anime series, with group infos and anime info links. There you will see that the 1st grp having released ID4S is Live-Evil... The only inconvenient is that this site is very strict and doesn't list licensed anime to be/already released in the us, such as Koi Kaze and the super excellent Tenjou Tende...

Live-Evil & Ideology has released the second episode. I meant the showing of the 4th stage series will end in one year from now... that is the topic isn't it? Actually jp80, almost all of the fansub groups under the a.scarywater.net/ tracker do not release things that are licensed for North America. Once something's been licensed they immediately remove any links to it. I don't understand why Tokyopop didn't mess with GTO the way they did with Initial D.

Re: Kenji-kun -- I'm pretty sure there are two reasons why GTO and Initial D got treated so differently by TP: 1) They wanted to market ID to TV, so they thought they *had* to change a few things to make it viable; they knew GTO was completely unmarketable to TV, so they left it alone; 2) TP has many different translating "teams", and I've noticed that each of them have slightly different standards. The ID team is trying to make it appeal to as big a market as possible, so they uber-Americanize it; the GTO team is trying to be as faithful to the original as possible, and they even throw in cultural notes here and there; their CLAMP team tends to strike a pretty even balance between these extremes.
In any case, I've got my first edition ID Vol. 1, with the original names, and that's the only ID manga I'm ever buying from TP.
Re: Synergy --The L-E & ide subs are pretty darn good for being the first ones out. The EnY & MnT aren't quite as good, and the video is slightly lower quality, as well.
I'm just surprised that there aren't any more groups jumping on this, especially some of the high-profile ones like ANBU, Soldats, Keep, or A-E. Guess they're already working on too many harem/fanservice shows...

Who needs subtitles?! It's all car terms anyway, just spoken with a thick accent! I've had almost no formal Japanese training and I had no problem understanding the series.
Of course, the thing that makes the series worth it, if nothing else, is DOGFIGHT. Simply the most badass song, ever. Hearing it makes me wish my S14 were out of the shop so I could blast that song and head up to the touge.

Well... I've finally watched the first 2 episodes of Initial D 4th Stage and... Well. It's pretty much more of the same old stuff we saw in the previous stages. I've watched the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Extra and Battle Stages and... Well. I must say I still love Takumi even though he's a drooling asshole just like many other characters that have Miki-sama's voice (which is something that makes me immediatly add them to my list of 'loved bishounens'... ). But I wish he could stop suffering/longing for that damned PB of Mogi!!! >_<! Anyway, the series seems good and it's like a dream watching Ryousuke, Keisuke and Takumi racing together as a part of Project D!!! This is what we've been wating for since they started to challenge each other in the 1st stage so it's great. I also like the fact that, supposedly, Itsuki will start running as a Akina Speedstar! ^^ Summary, I like this series very much and I'm looking forward for more episodes. And, of course, there's no need to say that the op and ed songs are one of the bests I've ever heard from Move (even though I haven't heard too much of Move... ).

I think Bunta Fujiwara foreshadowed things when he said that PROJECT D will eventually lose.
*shrugs*

I think Bunta Fujiwara foreshadowed things when he said that PROJECT D will eventually lose. *shrugs* And then there's his new car making a showing in the intro. See the blue Subaru Impreza WRX? Yep, that's Bunta's car. Foreshadowing indeed...
