To be honest, I tried Metroid back around 13 or 14 years ago when I was 6 or 7. I never could get a hang of it, but if the chance came, I'd try it again.

I've played all the metroid games. I started out with the first metroid (NES) when i was about 6 or 7. Been playing them since. I do have Metroid Prime and i recently beat it - the game rocks! It took me some time to get used to it being a first-person-shooter, instead of the familiar metroid-side-scroller. But i had a lot of fun with it. Its very player friendly - meaning the controls and camera viewing are great. They are currently working on the 2nd Metroid Prime *dances*. And a remake of the classic NES game. -- for GBA. Variable, try the games now, since you are older than when you first tried them. They are a lot of fun www.classicgaming.com/mdb/Best Metroid Site on the net! -miechelle

Metroid Fusion is a lot of fun. If you beat the game, connect it to Prime and you can play the NES version on a gamecube. It's pretty cool. Cause it doesn't freeze on you like the loveable NES system.. -miechelle

I'll have to get me a GBA and a 'Cube then. Back market NES's and games could probably get expensive.

CastleVania is AWESOME ;D
My favorite ones are Super Castlevania 4 and Symphony of the Night.
SotN is the only CV that I've ever beaten, the difficulty is through the roof (I also played them back when I was 6 and 7 except for SotN).

The main reason I asked the CastleVania question in the first place is mainly because its success can be credited to the Metroid series (more importantly, to Super Metroid). Without Super Metroid, we wouldn't have that 2-D castle exploration gameplay that worked so well in Symphony of the Night and later games. Aria of Sorrow is one of the best CastleVania games I've played lately. I love the Soul Stealing system! CastleVania IMO, has the best soundtracks ever made ... only the wizards at Konami can make it possible. I hope this clears anything up ... since this IS a Metroid thread ...

Since you mention game music, I feel compelled to mention the following as shameless plugs: 1. Xenogears, Chrono Cross, and Chrono Trigger: The music is awesome and was made by Yasunori Mitsuda. THere are a group of people who make remix albums and their first CD was of this music. Their site is www.oneupstudios.com and they are making several more albums too! 2. Nobuo Uematsu: The man behind the music for the Final Fantasy series. Here you may find some remixes of his music and other Square composers. www.majesticmix.comEnd Plug.

Kenji has an extremely good point. yay for super metroid! I love the soundtracks to all of the games listed as well. Very well done and they just rock! I once saw the sound-track to super metroid on ebay. It went way over my limit -- about 230.00! It went that high because Japan (the only country that released it) only released a few of them. And stopped making them once the game didn't do too well in Japan. (the game hit the US much harder and was a smash-hit) So the CD is extremely rare. Oh! i have a fanlisting to metroid if anyone wants to join it. I'm almost finished with my move fanlisting's layout metroid: www.miechelle.com/metroid_splash.htmlmove's upcoming fanlisting: www.miechelle.com/platinum_splash.html-miechelle

Since this is a topic about games (basically). Have any of you ever played an old SNES/Genesis game called ShadowRun?
It's really neat ;D
