Hey all,
I've been spending a good part of this weekend finally backing up all my J-pop on my harddrive since I now have a reliable desktop on which to do it. While I've been doing this, I've kind of come to the conclusion that I might as well gat an mp3 player, especially since my CD collection is starting to get bulky.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone here was knowledgeable on the subject. I have one caveat that limits my selection A LOT:
I'm ripping to .ogg because, well, I believe in efficiency and better quality, yadda, yadda...
So, I've narrowed it down to basically 3 players:
Jetaudio Iaudio M3 IRiver H320 LG Mf-HE700
The LG one's tough, though. I can't find any info on it on American sites, let alone American sellers. Although, what I have been able to read cites a release date of August or December 2004.
Anyway, would anyone happen to know anything about these players (personal experience, professional opinion, whatnot)?
Just so you know, I've already done a lot of searching myself (sites like epinions, etc...) but I kinda want some more personal confirmation of what I'm thinking right now.
Thanks!

I got a Dell Digital Jukebox about a year ago. I liked the controls, organization of the files and memory space, but it has frozen dead on me like three times, and it's still broken right now. 'Course, it's probably one of the earlier versions before they got the bugs out, but still can't recommend it. That's all that I know about MP3 players as yet.

I've heard that iRiver are a very good make, though I have yet to use one myself.

I ended up getting the IAudio M3. The screen on the IRiver seemed like it might be too much of a liability (too easy to scratch/crack) and I wouldn't really use it to it's full purpose (I have no intention of using my MP3 player to watch videos or browse photos too). Plus, the M3 had a higher signal-to-noise ratio. Only 95dB vs 90dB, but it's still a difference. I also found out that Iaudio has some proprietary drivers of their players that attempt to correct mistakes in ripping. It's been highly acclaimed too, so I think it actually works well. And when it comes down to it, how can you not love a 20GB MP3 player that's smaller than the iPod? The thing is, seriously, tiny.

I'm REALLY considering getting a audio player myself with at least 30GB and I have noway / nowhere to start looking.

Start by checking reviews on cnet.com and reading up on them at dapreview.net. Personally, I just bought the 20GB M3 from iAudio. They have a 40GB version as well. You should give it a look. If you're willing to hold out a couple months, though, the M5 and X5 will come out as updates to the M3. They both have a screen on the body now, but the X5 has a color screen. Something to think about.
