Like I (accidentally) said in the other Deep Calm thread: it wasn't what I had expected. The overall tone of the album seems to have lost the more carefree spirit that exists on other Move releases, including Decadance. Of course, I realize that may be the point to this album, but it's caught me off guard. There were a few songs that caught my attention, but none of them grabbed me the way that any of the songs on Decadance did. I may just need to listen to it a couple more times, not expecting it to be a continuation per se of Decadance.

I told my classmate that I might have been a little slow on our assignment this weekend because of this new CD. So in strategic management, he asked what group my new CD was. I told him it was Move, a Japanese group. Then they asked me why I listen to Japanese music and I said because I like it, and I like Japanese. Always glad to share that with friends.
I didn't notice it before, but I love Monster Amplifier now. It has these cool whooshing sounds, and I like both the fast and slow parts. It's so good that it rivals My Sweetest Nightmare.
Molotov, why do you think Move is less carefree than they used to be? I've been looking at the lyrics to the songs, and some of them are so bold that they practically make me blush.

Joseph... I meant that the music itself (not the lyrics, since I don't know Japanese ) seems less carefree. I don't know... it just feels more serious than any of their other albums.

I don't know what I was thinking but I indeed love this album, a lot! In fact, I think I am getting to like their rockish sound a lot more than I used to. And I have a favorite list too!
1. Reality 2. Deep Calm 3. Spirital Tattooist 4. RIOT GENERATOR 5. My Sweetest Nightmare 6. MONSTER AMPLIFIER 7. The Massive Quest
That's like.. almost half the album! XD Actually, it is. But yeah, i'm glad I had second thoughts on the album!

Alright, I've had more time to relisten and reconsider my feelings on the album. It's not as bad as I had previously felt, but it still doesn't seem to have the same "umph" that their other albums have had. Here's what I score the songs (sorry, I'm not at home and don't have the track names with me):
1. 10 2. 10 3. 7 4. 7 5. 8 6. 6 7. 8 8. 9 9. 10 10. 9 11. 8 12. 9 13. 9 14. 8
There are also a lot of songs on this album that are REALLY similar to each other and tend to run into each other. That usually turns me off of an album, so that may be part of the reason I'm not as excited as others seem to be. There are now a few songs that I particularly like, but I don't think any of them will become favorites for me.

Molotov, I was attracted to Personal Letter because it sounds so solemn and serious. I like the somber tones, and I like Blue Jewel for this same reason. I think it has to do with the overall austere mood of spirituality that Move's into now. I'm all for it!
One of the reasons I love Deep Calm (the song) is because it's so religious and holy-sounding.

I still can't make my mind up on a favorites list All I am saying is I have listened to this album non-stop!! ;D The other day, I managed to rip the live songs from the DVD into MP3 format. Now I can listen to the live versions of Over drive and Come Together, any time! ;D The live version of over drive sounds much better than the original version. There main difference is the tune is now played by Asaki (support guitarist from Age of Punk) on the guitar

Does anyone else get the feeling this is their "growing up" album? Joseph, does this seem to hold knowing the translations of the lyrics?

Move still has fun lyrics. Some songs are a little more bold like Spiritual Tattooist, but then you have the deeply spiritual message of Deep Calm. There are also ones that are little bit more serious like Personal Letter, which resembles Romancing Train in mood.
The songs on Deep Calm have different tones, just like Synergy, so I can't easily summarize them. Some songs are sweet like Freezing Rain, while others are rambunctious like Riot Generator.
Compared to Operation Overload 7, Deep Calm is a little more serious-sounding. The angle doesn't seem to be as much about clubbing. With songs like My Sweetest Nightmare, Motsu seems to be distressed. You can tell that spirituality has had some effect on the lyrics, like in Blast My Desire. But then again, it depends on the individual song. However, it's not a drastic change in tone from what they used to do. So I think you are partially right.

Whatever the case, I, personally, am greatly satisfied by the new album. I love Move's new tone, and it seems like they've played it out well with the combination of Decadance and Deep Calm. If they decide to release more songs similar to these, I'll have no complaints, but I'd also be fine with it if they decide to switch gears again. Richard put his money on hip-hop, anyone else got an idea? But anyway... inkeeping with the topic, I am still ferverently addicted to "Freezing Rain". ^^; Also, "Monster Amplifier" and "Twist ~ Alice in Wonderland" are growing on me. "Pure Minds" has been on repeat for a while - when I first heard it it seemed a bit slow for my liking, but the more I listen to it, the more I like it. This whole CD is just full of good music. ^_^ Molotov, I agree with you that this seems to be Move's "growing up" album, as you put it. Yuri's voice range has changed significantly since their earlier songs. As Joseph mentioned, Motsu's writing less about partying and is putting more depth into the lyrics (I can't confirm this, as I don't know Japanese; Joseph'd know better than I do). T-Kimura's style has changed too from their previous hard-core techno/trance sounds to Move's new 'rap-rock' style. As a side note, I think it's really cool that they made up their own genre instead of plastering one of the manufactured labels onto themselves. And so ends my ramble. *bows*

I just looked at the lyrics for Pure Minds. It seems to hint at war a little bit, so this album has its serious songs. Yes, Liz, I think the songs showcase depth. I undoubtedly like the serious songs. For example the Massive Quest is about a long, arduous journey.
Personal Letter and Deep Calm are still my favourites. I love those two songs about the same now.
Say, isn't 'deep calm' what they say you feel right before death? Nevermind, just a thought.

Deep Calm, Reality, Pure Minds, and Freezing Rain have become my favorites so far. Basically, the ones with the most use of symphonic sounds ;D.
